Six students represented Polk County at the 2010 Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference held in Nashville over the summer. Approximately 7,500 students attended the national conference. FBLA is a business education program in middle and high schools for students to develop vocational and career competencies.
Two students earned top awards in competitive events.
Bianca Mulaney, a junior at Bartow International Baccalaureate, won two awards. She won a first place in the health care administration event and a fifth place in a word processing event.
Eric Konkol-Bennett, a Bartow High senior, won sixth place in the computer problem solving event.
Four other students represented Polk at the national conference: Noah Baker, Lakeland High junior; Damiria Gilbert, Winter Haven High graduate, class of 2010; Allyson Lewis, Lakeland’s Harrison School For The Arts junior and Trenton Moore, Auburndale High graduate, class of 2010.
All six Polk students served as voting delegates during the southern region elections of the FBLA.
Bartow’s Gause Academy middle school chapter received recognition at the event for their annual business report. The report summarized the chapter’s overall achievement and performance in chapter management and growth.
