April School Board Meeting Schedule

The following is a school board meeting schedule for April. Work sessions are held in the superintendent’s conference room of the district administrative office, 1915 South Floral Avenue, Bartow. Meetings are held in the auditorium of the district administrative office. Tuesday, April 12 – work session, 10 a.m.; meeting, 1:30 p.m.  The 10 a.m. start time for the April 12 work session is a deviation from the standard work session start time. 

 

Tuesday, April 26 – work session, 12:30 p.m., meeting 5 p.m.

 

 

Poetry Awards

The public is invited to the 35th Annual Poetry Awards to be held 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 26 at Florida Southern College’s Branscomb Auditorium, 111 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland. There is no charge to attend and the event includes poetry readings and award presentations. Students in grades six through 12 submitted poems to be considered for awards. All-County Dance Gala

The 4th Annual All-County Dance Gala featuring dance students from eight Polk schools will be held at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 30 at the new Davenport School Of The Arts campus, 4751 Highway 547 North, Davenport. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased at the door.

Performing will be students from Lake Wales’ Bok Middle,  Davenport School of the Arts, Lakeland’s Harrison School of the Visual and Performing Arts, Lake Wales’ Hillcrest Elementary, Winter Haven’s Jewett School of the Arts, Lake Wales’ McLaughlin Middle and Fine Arts Academy, Lakeland’s Rochelle School of the Arts and Davenport’s Ridge Community High. They will perform modern, contemporary, liturgical, jazz, ballet and contemporary ballet in the gala.
