Polk County Public Schools is the winner of the Excellence in Financial Reporting Award for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report of June 30, 2011. This award is the highest form of recognition given by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
Assistant Superintendent for Business Services Mark A. Grey says, “I am very proud of the Finance Staff for receiving this award in the first year our district has been eligible to apply. It’s very unusual to receive this award in our first application. The Finance Staff has worked extremely hard.”
Comprehensive annual financial reports are submitted and reviewed by selected members of the GFOA professional staff and the GFOA Special Review Committee (SRC), which is made up of individuals with expertise in public-sector financial reporting and includes financial state preparers, independent auditors, academics and other financial professionals.
