Winter Haven High School Student Robert Brown is the newly elected secretary of the Florida District of Key Club International for the 2012-2013 academic year. Kiwanis International sponsors the student-led high school organization that teaches leadership skills and character through serving others.
As secretary, Mr. Brown will produce the district handbook, keep minutes for each district and executive board meeting, publish newsletters, manage district mailings and submit a district convention report that includes all contest winners and election results to the international office. He also receives all district communications, lieutenant governor monthly reports and participates in events such as mid-winter training, district and international conventions, board meetings and regional training conferences.
“We are very excited and proud of what Robert has accomplished over the past year,” said Faculty Advisor for the Key Club of Winter Haven High School Craig Clevenger. “It has been amazing to watch him learn and grow as an individual and a leader in the role of Lieutenant Governor. He will be able to apply his knowledge and experience while continuing to learn and grow as second in command for the State of Florida.”
Brown has been an active member of the Winter Haven Key Club since 2010 and served as Lieutenant Governor for Division 15A of the Florida District of Key Club during the 2011-2012 school year. He received the Robert F. Lucas Outstanding Lt. Governor Award and was chosen as a recipient of the Leader Among Leaders Award at Key Club’s Florida District Convention held at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando.
