Good News About Polk County Public Schools

Three Auburndale High School students were honored this summer by the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). Shayla Jordan placed 8^th in Medical Assisting, Morgan Faneuf placed 7^th in Dental Science and Lori Hyde placed 4^th in Veterinarian Science. The awards were given at the 35^th Annual National Leadership Conference held this year at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando.  The competitive events are designed to complement the health science technology education program through application of the instruction received. Students are given written exams, creative problem solving activities and asked to speak on various topics. This practical experience assists HOSA members in developing the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to deliver quality health care.

The U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education Division of Association for Career and Technical Education endorse HOSA. The mission of the national student organization is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people.
